A Primer on Two-Stage Exams - Moving Beyond Traditional Midterm Exams! Part 1 - Amy Rodall, Mike Ray In-Person

This session will focus on implementing two-stage exams. A brief review of the current research on two-stage exams will be followed by a primer on how to implement this type of exam. By the end of the presentation, participants will have the preliminary work completed on how to implement a two-stage exam in their course, including weighting the assessment, format of the assessment and tips for managing group dynamics. Reflective activities will assist participants to identify how and where a two-stage exam fits into their course assessment. Practical do's and don'ts of two-stage exams will be discussed. This workshop is appropriate for all disciplines of study where faculty have a midterm style exam. Bring a copy of your course outline, if possible. There will be time for questions and conversation around implementation of two-stage exams.

Please be aware that this event, speakers, and participants may be recorded by our CTL team.
